ComfortFit Labs introduces a device in their SportFit collection. The SportFit Flex is similar to our popular SportFit device but designed for patients who can not tolerate a semi-rigid shell. This new device is listed on our 2013 Custom Orthotic Prescription Order Form.

NEW orthotic feature - easy off ribbon

New Product Release

ComfortFit's newest product release will have your patient's thanking you! Our Easy Out pull-out ribbon allows patients to quickly and easily remove orthotics from their shoes. Althought this can be used in any type of shoe, it is particuarly helpful with boots, cleats or any shoe with a deep foot bed. Older patients or patients suffering from back, spine or hip pain will easily be able to remove their orthotics for use in other shoes. If you would like to add this no cost feature to your orthotics, mark this option on our new custom orthotic prescription form (under Additions/Modifications). Ankle-Foot Orthoses/Knee-Ankle-Foot Orthoses LCD related Policy Article - Revised- The related Policy Article for the Ankle-Foot Orthosis/Knee-Ankle-Foot Orthosis is being revised. The Policy Article with an effective date of January 1, 2013 included Coding Guidelines for AFOs that included a height requirement. The height requirement is being removed. The effective date for the revised Policy Article is for dates of service on or after January 1, 2013. Read more...

Medicare has removed the height requirement that was effective January 1, 2013 and you can continue to dispense custom AFO devices which extend above the ankle. These do not have to reach the height of the head of the fibula. Dr. Richie will continue to offer the new Richie Brace Ultra as it is an innovative product which has clinical advantages over other braces.
